Basically, myBART is your resource for finding fun activities that you can ride BART to! The site www.myBART.org is broken down into 4 main categories:
Contests
You must be a myBART member to enter our contests – but membership is free, and makes you eligible to win tickets to all sorts of hot Bay Area events. Every Wednesday we post new contests on the site. You usually have until the following Monday at noon to enter these contests and win FREE tickets. (Some contests run for longer - see each individual contest for expiration date). Winners will be notified via email. Sign up for myBART here!
Discounts
This content changes weekly. Our partners offer great deals on all sorts of events around the Bay Area. Follow the instructions for each individual offer to save yourself a pretty penny on everything from sporting events to musicals.
Events
Check the Events section for a listing of many FREE events that you can take BART to each week.
Destinations
Use the Destination section to find out more about the venues close to each BART station. Search by station to find out what venues are close to each station, or by category.
As a myBART member, you will receive an email every Wednesday summarizing all of that week's newest event information, and inviting you to enter our contests for your chance to win tickets to all sorts of shows, sporting events, etc. Have we totally sold you on becoming a member yet? Sign up here.
Aside from the prestige and general sense of belonging that being a member of myBART gives you, you will also be eligible to enter our contests for a chance to win tickets to exciting Bay Area Events. You will receive just one email from us a week, on Wednesday mornings, letting you know about that week's great discount deals on fun as well as alerting you about various cool contests you can enter.
An email is sent to our members every Wednesday morning, inviting them to enter that week's contests and check out any other updates that have been made to the site. Content on myBART.org changes weekly as well.
Each individual discount offer has instructions on how to redeem it. Read the offer restrictions carefully, and always bring a printout of the myBART offer with you when purchasing discount tickets at the door.
There is a button that says "print this page" at the bottom of each offer to make it easy to print the details of the offer that you are interested in.
Winners are usually notified every Tuesday via email.
Generally your tickets will be left under your name at will-call. You can show up the DAY OF the show you won tickets to, and present a photo ID to claim them. Tickets will be left under the name that you entered the contest with, and will only be available for pick up on the day of the event in question - not before. You should check the box office times for each individual venue if you plan on trying to pick those tickets up earlier than one hour before the show. It is a good idea to print off the email sent to you, identifying you as a myBART winner, when claiming your tickets at the box office.
Please check the email that you received notifying you of your winnings - in the event that we do not leave your tickets at will-call, specific instructions for ticket pick up will be found there.
Once you have your tickets in-hand, you are welcome to give them to someone else. However, we cannot transfer the name on the tickets to someone else's. We also cannot exchange your tickets for any other date, or any other show. No exceptions. Sorry about that.
Uh oh. That is not supposed to happen.
If you are having trouble redeeming an offer:
First, please re-read the offer page carefully to make sure that you are attempting to purchase tickets in one of the manners available. There are specific redemption instructions listed under the heading "Ticket Information" in each individual offer.
If you have checked to make sure that you are doing exactly what they told you to and still can't seem to get the discount offered, please email us and let us know what the problem is. All emails will be answered on weekdays during business hours.
If you won tickets, but your name was not on the list:
Please note that we only guarantee that your tickets will be left at Will Call on the day of the event, under the name that you entered our contest with. If you tried to pick your tickets up before the day of the event, your tickets may not be available yet.
If you showed up to claim your tickets on the day of the event and your name was not at Will Call, we apologize. This very rarely occurs, we promise. Please call 510.464.7131 or email us immediately and let us know what the problem was. We operate under normal weekday business hours and are not available on weekends to handle inquiries, but please leave a detailed explanation of the event that you attempted to attend in your message and we will try to remedy the situation as soon as possible.
Posting your event on myBART is free! We require that your event be within walking distance of a BART station (or one short, easy transit connection away), and that it be a free event or one that you can offer us a big, fat, juicy discount to. That said, all events are still subject to our discretion. We have to be judicious as we don't want to offend aunt Nellie. Have an event that you would like posted? We will gladly give you all the details. Please send us an email with a description of your event as far ahead of time as possible.
Really? We don't get that one all that often. If you do want to stop receiving emails, you can go to the bottom of the most recent myBART email you received and hit "unsubscribe."
We will miss you. (sniff)
I wish people would stop asking this question. I get, like, 12 emails about it a day. Let's just say good looks have something to do with it.
To change your account password, first make sure that you are logged in to myBART (you can do that in the top right hand corner of this page if you haven't already). Once you have logged in, you should see a button that says "my account" at the very bottom of any myBART.org page (yup - including this one). When you click on that link, you can update your password, name or contact information. Like magic.
Don't know your current username and password? No sweat. Who remembers those things anyway? Click here to request that your current password be emailed to you.
Chances are, if you have this problem, you have a Yahoo email account. We have been experiencing delivery delays with Yahoo accounts recently, and are currently working with them to fix the problem.
In the meantime, make sure to check myBART.org every Friday morning to make sure you don't miss out on our weekly contests and discounts!
Entering a contest more than once will actually just increase your chances of carpal tunnel. Only the first contest entry will be counted, so if you enter more than once, you won't be disqualified, but your extra entries certainly won't do you any good.
So, nothing in this terribly thorough FAQ page seems to answer your question? We probably still have the answer. Email us and ask away.
